Beech Wood

Beech wood surface with natural grain texture

Beech Wood

Beech wood is a solid wood and veneer material commonly used in custom furniture and interior woodwork. It is relatively hard and dense, with fine grain and a light yellow to light reddish color. The overall appearance is clean and consistent. Compared with softer woods such as pine, beech usually offers better hardness, wear resistance and machining performance, making it suitable for furniture components that require certain structural strength and a refined wood appearance. Beech can be used as solid wood, or processed into natural veneer and applied over stable substrates such as plywood or MDF. Its actual performance depends on wood grade, moisture content control, drying process, panel jointing method, finishing process and the final application environment.

Materials Detail

Common Thickness

18mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm

Suitable Surface Treatments

Clear coat, PU finish, staining, wood wax oil, matte finish, clear protective coating

Suitable Applications

Tables and chairs, furniture frames, stair handrails, door frames, local cabinet structural parts, solid wood mouldings, local solid wood components, decorative mouldings and veneer-finished parts in residential, commercial and hotel projects.

Not Suitable For

High-humidity areas, large solid wood door panels, projects that require strong decorative grain, or projects with low tolerance for natural wood color variation, panel jointing differences or later deformation risk.

Advantages

Good hardness, relatively uniform structure and good machining performance. Suitable for furniture structural parts and woodwork components that require a clean, simple and consistent visual appearance.

Limitations

The decorative grain is less prominent than oak or walnut. It may still deform under humidity changes, and large-area solid wood applications need to consider cracking, warping, color variation and weight.

Key Notes

Drying process and moisture content control are important for beech. It performs relatively well in structural components, but for large door panels or wall panels, beech veneer over a stable substrate is recommended to reduce solid wood deformation risk. For batch projects, confirm wood moisture content, panel jointing method, color range, finishing effect and acceptable color variation between batches before production.
