Glass Options

Glass options are supporting materials commonly used in custom cabinetry, display cabinets, wine cabinets, bathroom vanities, partitions, wall panels and commercial woodwork. They are mainly used for cabinet doors, shelves, display surfaces, partitions, mirror surfaces and local decorative areas. Compared with standard panel finishes, glass offers better transparency, display effect, spatial openness and cleaning convenience. It is suitable for residential, hotel and commercial projects that require display, light transmission, partial privacy or decorative effects. The final result depends on glass type, thickness, whether it is tempered, edge treatment, cut-out method, hardware matching and installation conditions.

Materials Detail

Visual Effect

Available in clear, translucent, frosted, patterned, mirror, fluted, grey tinted and bronze tinted effects. Clear glass is more suitable for display, while frosted or fluted glass is better for privacy and decorative effect.

Common Types

Clear glass, ultra-clear glass, frosted glass, acid-etched glass, fluted glass, tempered glass, laminated glass, grey tinted glass, bronze tinted glass, mirror glass

Common Thickness

4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm. Cabinet doors and display cabinets commonly use 5mm–8mm glass, while shelves, partitions or load-bearing positions should be confirmed separately according to size and structure.

Safety / Tempering Requirements

Tempered glass is usually recommended for glass cabinet doors, shelves, partitions, bathroom areas and high-frequency use positions. Large-size glass, children’s contact areas, public spaces and hotel projects should prioritize safety and breakage risk control.

Edge Treatment

Common treatments include ground edges, polished edges, beveling, rounded corners, holes, notches and special-shaped cutting. Exposed edges and high-contact positions should pay special attention to edge safety and hand feel.

Suitable Applications

Glass cabinet doors, wine cabinets, display cabinets, bookcases, bathroom vanities, mirror cabinets, glass shelves, partitions, wall panel decoration, hotel guestroom woodwork and commercial display cabinets.

Not Suitable For

High-impact positions, areas that require extensive on-site cutting, projects with unconfirmed dimensions, positions with unclear load-bearing structure, or projects with low tolerance for breakage risk, fingerprints, water marks or frequent cleaning.

Processing / Installation Requirements

Dimensions, thickness, tempering requirements, edge treatment, hole positions, hardware matching, frame structure, rubber strips or channel fixing methods should be confirmed in advance. Tempered glass cannot be cut or re-drilled on site after processing, so dimensions and hole positions must be confirmed before production.

Advantages

Strong transparency, good display effect and easy cleaning. Suitable for creating a lighter, more layered and more modern cabinet or interior space effect.

Limitations

Glass has breakage risk and requires careful transportation packaging and on-site installation. Mirror glass, grey tinted glass, bronze tinted glass and ultra-clear glass may show fingerprints, water marks or dust more easily. Some glass types also have higher cost and processing requirements.

Key Notes

Confirm glass type, thickness, whether it is tempered, edge treatment, hole positions, hardware matching and transportation protection. For hotel projects, commercial spaces, bathrooms or public areas, safety, fixing method, cleaning maintenance and later replacement convenience should be carefully considered.
