Leather / Fabric Texture / Special Texture Finish

Leather, fabric texture and special texture finishes are decorative surface materials used in custom cabinetry and interior woodwork to enhance surface texture and visual effect. They are usually applied over substrates such as MDF, plywood or particle board using leather, leather-like films, fabric-textured finishes, artistic coatings or special textured materials. Compared with standard finishes such as melamine and PET, these materials offer stronger tactile quality, decorative value and spatial atmosphere. They are suitable for local accents, feature walls, decorative cabinet door surfaces, upholstered or hard panels, display cabinets and high-end interior woodwork details. They are usually better for local applications and are not recommended as a large-area standard finish for all cabinets. Their actual performance depends on material grade, surface texture, substrate flatness, bonding process, edge finishing, wear resistance, cleaning method, fire-retardant rating, mildew resistance, color batch and the final application environment.

Materials Detail

Visual Effect

Soft touch, strong decorative effect and rich surface texture. They can create leather grain, fabric texture, upholstered panels, hard panels, relief texture and other special tactile or visual effects.

Suitable Substrates

MDF, plywood, aluminum honeycomb panel

Suitable Door / Panel Forms

Flat panels, background panels, local cabinet door surfaces, upholstered panels and hard panel surfaces. Suitable for simple flat surfaces and local decorative areas, but not suitable for complex routed profiles, deep grooves or frequent folding edge details.

Suitable Applications

Bedside feature walls, local wardrobe door surfaces, hotel room wall panels, display cabinet back panels, high-end decorative cabinet doors, upholstered / hard panel backgrounds, commercial spaces, hotel spaces, showrooms and local decorative woodwork in display areas.

Not Suitable For

Kitchens, bathrooms, oily areas, humid spaces, high-friction positions, areas requiring frequent cleaning, positions close to heat sources, children’s high-contact areas or high-wear public spaces.

Advantages

Special tactile quality and strong decorative effect. Suitable for local applications in high-end spaces, helping to enhance spatial atmosphere, material layering and differentiated visual effects.

Limitations

Higher cleaning and maintenance requirements. Sensitive to moisture and oil stains, and edge finishing requirements are high. Wear resistance, fire-retardant performance, mildew resistance and long-term durability depend on specific material grade and installation quality.

Key Notes

Check material wear resistance, fire-retardant rating, color batch, edge finishing, mildew resistance and cleaning method. For hotel, commercial or batch projects, sample effect, material batch, fire-retardant requirements, edge finishing solution and on-site protection should be confirmed in advance to avoid edge lifting, staining, wear, color variation or cleaning difficulties.
