Manchurian Ash

Manchurian ash wood surface with natural grain texture

Manchurian Ash

Manchurian ash is a solid wood and veneer material commonly used in custom furniture and interior woodwork. It usually has a light yellow to light brown color, clear grain and a strong grain direction, giving a natural and rustic visual appearance. It is suitable for custom projects that require visible natural wood grain, open-grain finish effects and traditional woodwork character. Manchurian ash can be used as solid wood, or processed into natural veneer and applied over stable substrates such as plywood or MDF. Its actual performance depends on wood grade, moisture content control, grain matching method, veneer thickness, finishing process, veneer batch, grain direction and the final application environment.

Materials Detail

Common Thickness

18mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm

Suitable Surface Treatments

Open-grain finish, clear coat, staining, PU finish, wood wax oil, matte clear protective coating

Suitable Applications

Solid wood furniture, cabinet doors, wall panels, mouldings, door frames, traditional woodwork, wood veneer wall panels, display cabinets and fixed furniture in residential, commercial and hotel projects.

Not Suitable For

Minimalist flat no-grain projects, humid areas, large door panels that require high dimensional stability, or projects with low tolerance for natural grain variation, panel jointing color differences and grain direction changes.

Advantages

Clear grain, good decorative value and good machining performance. Suitable for highlighting natural wood grain through open-grain finishes or staining.

Limitations

Stability and durability are strongly affected by material grade. Wood grade and batch stability should be confirmed in advance. Large-area applications also require careful control of color variation, grain matching and deformation risk.

Key Notes

Manchurian ash has a clear grain pattern and is suitable for open-grain finishes and stained effects. For batch projects, confirm material samples, veneer batch, grain direction, staining effect and acceptable color variation between batches before production. For large cabinet doors, wall panels or hotel woodwork, Manchurian ash veneer over a stable substrate is recommended to reduce solid wood deformation risk and improve batch consistency.
