Maple Wood

Maple wood surface with natural grain texture

Maple Wood

Maple wood is a solid wood and veneer material commonly used in custom furniture and interior woodwork. It usually has a light color and fine, even grain, giving a clean and bright visual appearance. It is suitable for custom woodwork projects that require a light wood tone, simple visual effect and fine grain expression. Maple can be used as solid wood, or processed into natural veneer and applied over stable substrates such as plywood or MDF. Its actual performance depends on wood grade, moisture content control, grain matching method, veneer thickness, finishing process, surface protection, lighting conditions and the final application environment.

Materials Detail

Common Thickness

18mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm

Suitable Surface Treatments

Clear coat, matte finish, PU finish, light staining, clear protective coating, closed-pore or semi-open finish

Suitable Applications

Light-color furniture, cabinet doors, tabletops, display cabinets, modern-style woodwork, children’s furniture, light wood veneer surfaces, fixed furniture and display woodwork in residential, commercial and hotel projects.

Not Suitable For

High-use areas that are easy to stain, dark vintage-style projects, batch projects with very strict color consistency requirements, or projects with low tolerance for stains, glue marks, sanding marks and slight yellowing over time.

Advantages

Light color, fine texture and good hardness. Suitable for clean, light-color design effects and can create a fine, even and bright wood appearance.

Limitations

Light-colored surfaces are more likely to show dirt, stains and processing marks. Improper machining or finishing may cause color variation. Maple requires careful control of sanding, glue marks, finish uniformity and surface protection.

Key Notes

Maple is a light-colored material, so stains, glue marks and sanding marks are more visible. For batch projects, confirm samples, grain direction, light staining effect, finish gloss level and acceptable color variation between batches before production. For large cabinet doors, wall panels or hotel woodwork, maple veneer over a stable substrate is recommended to reduce solid wood deformation risk.
