PET Finish / PET Film Finish

PET finish is a film-based decorative surface commonly used in custom cabinetry and panel furniture. It is usually made by laminating PET film onto substrates such as particle board, MDF or plywood. It can provide matte, high-gloss, soft-touch, solid-color or light-texture effects, with a clean and modern visual appearance. It is suitable for modern, minimalist and unified cabinet surface designs. Compared with standard melamine finish, PET finish usually offers better surface texture, color expression and visual flatness. Compared with paint finish, it is generally easier to manage in terms of batch stability, daily cleaning, delivery efficiency and cost control, making it suitable for cabinet door projects that require consistent surface quality and batch production. Its actual performance depends on PET film grade, substrate flatness, lamination process, surface gloss level, edge sealing method, adhesive quality, edge treatment and the final application environment. For batch projects, color batch, edge banding match and surface protection requirements should be confirmed in advance.

Materials Detail

Visual Effect

Flat surface, stable color and a modern appearance. High-gloss PET has a stronger reflective effect, while soft-touch PET provides a smoother hand feel. Different gloss levels may have different sensitivity to fingerprints, scratches and cleaning maintenance.

Suitable Substrates

Particle board, plywood, MDF

Suitable Door / Panel Forms

Flat cabinet doors, minimalist doors, simple straight-line cabinet doors and large flat cabinet surfaces. Not suitable for complex deep-profile doors, deep grooves, carved door panels or large curved surface wrapping.

Suitable Applications

Modern kitchen cabinet doors, wardrobe doors, bathroom vanity doors, tall cabinet doors, TV cabinet doors, minimalist spaces, and cabinet door systems in residential, commercial and hotel projects that require a unified surface effect.

Not Suitable For

Complex routed doors, deep-groove door panels, areas close to strong heat sources, positions with frequent hard-object friction, projects requiring extensive on-site cutting, or applications with extremely high scratch-resistance requirements.

Advantages

Flat surface, stable color and a more refined texture than standard melamine boards. Good batch consistency, suitable for modern simple cabinet doors and project-based custom furniture delivery.

Limitations

Sensitive to sharp scratches, and edges still require proper edge sealing. Low-quality PET film may peel. Soft-touch PET may show fingerprints more easily, while high-gloss PET requires stricter control of surface flatness, scratch protection and transportation protection.

Key Notes

Check film surface flatness, PET film grade, edge banding color match, edge bonding strength, color batch and cleaning maintenance method. High-gloss PET requires stronger transportation protection. Soft-touch PET should be confirmed in advance for fingerprint visibility and cleaning maintenance acceptance.
