Long-term water soaking, poorly ventilated humid areas, direct contact with standing water, walls with long-term water leakage, or sink cut-outs without proper edge sealing and moisture protection.
Good structural strength, good screw-holding performance and generally better moisture resistance than standard particle board. Suitable for cabinet projects that require better load-bearing capacity and structural stability.
Usually more expensive than particle board. Surface flatness may not be better than MDF. Low-quality plywood may have voids, delamination, glue failure, warping or noticeable odor.
Plywood is more suitable for cabinet structure and base construction. It is not the best choice for deep grooving, carving, decorative moulding or other fine-profile details. When selecting plywood, check whether the layers are even, whether the core has voids, whether the edges are delaminated, whether the board is warped, and whether edge sealing and moisture protection are properly handled around sink cabinets and bathroom vanities.
