Slatted & Fluted Door Panel

Slatted and fluted door panels are decorative cabinet door styles commonly used in custom cabinetry and interior woodwork. They create a raised or recessed linear effect through continuous vertical or horizontal lines. The effect can be made with a real slatted structure, or by routing, grooving or surface shaping to create a similar slatted or fluted visual appearance. Compared with standard flat panel doors, slatted and fluted door panels offer stronger three-dimensional depth, spatial expression and visual recognition. They are suitable for feature areas, decorative cabinet surfaces and projects that require a more distinctive woodwork effect. The final effect depends on slat spacing, groove depth, substrate stability, finish adhesion, processing accuracy and installation method. Because there are many raised or recessed lines, cleaning and dust accumulation should be considered in advance. For large-area applications, line density and spatial proportion should also be controlled.

Materials Detail

Visual Effect

Strong three-dimensional depth, clear rhythm and obvious decorative effect.

Suitable Substrates

MDF, solid wood, plywood, wood veneer panel, aluminum profiles for slatted structures

Suitable Finishes

Wood veneer finish, paint finish, clear finish on solid wood, shallow-groove melamine finish, shallow-groove PET finish

Suitable Applications

Entryway cabinets, TV background walls, wall panels, display cabinets, island side panels, commercial spaces and local decorative woodwork that requires a feature surface.

Not Suitable For

Kitchen oily areas, positions that require frequent wiping, minimalist no-texture spaces, or areas that are not suitable for many raised or recessed lines.

Advantages

Strong visual layering and clear decorative effect. Suitable for feature areas, material display surfaces and projects that need stronger visual identity.

Limitations

Easy to collect dust, requires more processing work and usually costs more than standard flat panel doors. Large-area use may create a visually heavy or oppressive effect.

Key Notes

Slat spacing should be even, groove depth should be consistent, and finish adhesion and corner treatment should be stable. For batch projects, slat spacing, groove depth, cleaning maintenance method and large-area application effect should be confirmed in advance.
