Walnut Wood

Walnut wood surface with natural grain texture

Walnut Wood

Walnut wood is a mid-to-high-end solid wood and veneer material commonly used in custom cabinetry and interior woodwork. It usually has a darker color, fine grain and a calm, natural visual appearance. Compared with materials such as pine and oak, walnut offers stronger decorative value, material texture and spatial presence, making it suitable for custom woodwork projects that require a rich dark wood tone and a high-end visual effect. Walnut can be used as solid wood, or processed into natural veneer and applied over stable substrates such as plywood or MDF. Its actual performance depends on wood grade, origin, moisture content control, grain matching method, veneer thickness, finishing process, color treatment and the final application environment.

Materials Detail

Common Thickness

18mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, 40mm

Suitable Surface Treatments

Clear coat, PU finish, wood wax oil, matte finish, staining, semi-open or closed-pore finish

Suitable Applications

High-end cabinet doors, wall panels, wine cabinets, bookcases, tabletops, hotel woodwork, high-end residential woodwork, display cabinets, wood veneer wall panels, fixed furniture and display woodwork in commercial and hotel spaces.

Not Suitable For

Low-budget projects, large-area cabinetry with limited budget, spaces that require a light-color style, or projects that have low tolerance for natural wood color variation and grain differences.

Advantages

Rich dark wood tone, attractive grain and strong material texture. Suitable for high-end projects, and effective for creating a calm, refined and premium spatial impression.

Limitations

Higher cost, noticeable color and grain variation, and higher cost for large-area applications. Large-area solid wood use still requires attention to deformation, cracking and excessive weight.

Key Notes

Material selection, panel jointing and grain matching are important. For large-area woodwork, walnut veneer over a stable substrate is more commonly used to reduce solid wood deformation risk and control project cost. For batch projects, confirm veneer samples, grain direction, color depth, finish gloss level and acceptable color variation between batches before production.
